some things i like saturday: 5/28/2011

today we spent our day in fredericksburg. it is a small town about twenty minutes from boerne. they were hosting a crawfish boil. we went with our friends rebbecas & brigham, they are expecting parents. it was a lot of fun and after the festival we went to our secret 'swimming hole' in boerne and cooled off. it was a fabulous saturday.

so i thought i would show you all a few things i am really liking at the moment:

loving all things involving owls

turquoise is my favorite

this vintage upcycled teapot chime

love this hanging plate idea. adds tons of color/texture. a possible project in my future.

hope you all have enjoyed today & to all of our veterans, thank you for my freedom.

divine intervention

i am repeating this to myself hourly. since my sisters baby shower i have had a nasty stomach bug and haven't quite yet fully recovered. happening now is our annual field day at school, i am having a field day, in my bed. not. i am feeling miserable.

even though i am missing the fun that is happening at work, i am thankful to god to have the day to rest and hopefully get better.

several good things have come due to the 'time-off' i have received including the following:

1. time to catch up on blogging
2. project ideas for the house
3. mental preparation for the summer
4. realization that my body is not being treated as the temple that god has given me
5. rest

here's to feeling better & being better!

fill in the blank friday: 5/20/2011

1.   If my house was on fire and I could only grab 3 things I would grab miss. bella bell, my laptop (has all my photos on it), and whatever purse i was using that week

2.  A smell I really like is chanel chance (love it).

3.  Something you might not know about me is i write poetry & am damn proud of it.

4.  Some of my favorite websites to putter about on are http://www.dlisted.com,/ http://www.etsy.com/, and http://www.thesuperficial.com/

5.  This weekend I will be at my sisters baby shower in austin, tx!

6. Nothing makes me happier than getting in bed after a long day, cozying up with blake and the dogs, and relaxing.(it hardly EVER happens with blake, he prefers the couch)  true BLISS.
7.  A bad habit I have is not doing laundry & eating too many skittles…

choosing to be happy

today i am filled with happiness, or rather choosing to be. as the end of the school year winds down i have several tasks that must be checked off of my list before i can bask in the glory of the summer sun. normally i would panic and attack everything at once and wind up crying on the floor amongst my mess. no, not today. blake gave me some great advice last night, "stay a little later and check one more thing off of your list".

he is so wise and keeps me on my toes. i love the fact that we know exactly what to say to the other person to make them feel more powerful and motivated. thank you handsome husband.

i encourage you to find your happy place & go there.

tonight i look forward to happiness with my husband and an episode of csi.

country wedding & boerne market days: 5/15/2011

what a weekend. country superstars miranda lambert & blake shelton got married here in boerne this past weekend. stars like reba McIntyre, katherine heigel, cee-loo green, kelly clarkson, and many more flooded our little town. i think it's really neat that they even had their guests attend market days. the two were married at the same place, don strange, that catered our october wedding.

blake & i went to market days, one of our favorite things to do every month. we checked out local grown herbs, pottery, antiques, and of course sampled a bit of food. for the first time they had a smoothie station, it was delicious.
blake had to try it

 my turn...

blake & his a&m baby

i love boerne market days & i love spending my saturdays with my husband coming up with new ideas and putting money back into our community by purchasing locally grown plants, vegetables, and other items. our town is very close and cozy.

hope your weekend was just as wonderful...

on another note, i only have 10 days left until summer vacation, my students are ready & so am i!

trade-places-with tuesday

let's pretend that today we can trade places with one person. my person is sarah jessica parker. i can remember watching Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and embracing my ridiculously curly hair. the look of the 80's was awesome. so on this terrific tuesday i am posting about the one and only sarah jessica parker aka carrie bradshaw.

i love her voice, tongue lip lick thingy, hair, figure, character, everything. mostly i like what she represents. she is a working mother, a fashion icon, a philanthropist, and a woman with a giving heart.

so today i give both casual & dressy sarah jessica parker.

given the chance who would you trade places with?

show & tell saturday

today was a wonderful day. blake and i went to pick up a china hutch and begin our first transformation project.

we have recently been shopping around for an antique china hutch with a country cottage twist. well here in boerne there are several amazing antique stores and all potential prospects were very pricey and not antique.

so we decided to try craigslist. i found the perfect candidate. cheap, what we wanted, and a project. we picked up the item this morning and had previously purchased antique white paint and a robin's egg blue paint. we were ready for the challenge.

before....

this only took us two hours. we work great as team. it's been the best saturday we have had this month.

and now, for the after....

isn't it just so beautiful? blake and i adore turquoise and white. the knobs were purchased about three years ago and blake did not like them. i at the time thought they could be crystal doorknobs... ha-ha no, they are definitely knobs. we are happy to display our wedding china and waterford crystal.

hope everyone has as great of a saturday as we have.

in the jungle, the mighty jungle...

it's teacher appreciation week and i couldn't be more excited. this is what the front entryway looks like. how amazing is our PTO?

after you enter, lining the hallways are passports of each and every teacher at our school. there are also animals that relate to the jungle and adorable invitations to various meals and even massages throughout the day!

tomorrow morning i have scheduled my massage and look forward to the annual costume contest. this year is obviously a jungle theme, last year was cinco de mayo, i didn't win. i am pulling out all the stops in hopes of winning this year. i am already campaigning for a win, insisting that my class vote only for me.

if you know a teacher thank them, if you see a teacher thank them, if you are a teacher, thank you. education is so important and it's nice to be recognized for the hard work we do and love.
