Weekend Shenanigans

Friday night began with my daily FaceTime with my niece Riley. She learned something new, how to blow her nose and it was freaking adorable! After she showed me that she could she couldn't stop! Thus the night was already a huge success. Blake was on the grill getting the veggies started, we were having family over for some dinner and fun. Before everyone got there, Blake and I had a little goofy photo shoot in the bathroom while getting ready. I decided that I had dressed like an Indian Princess and took some instagram worthy pics. Birdie (our morkie) was outside gathering pecans which I assume was her contribution to the party. You'll also see a picture of my handsome brother, Garren, and his lovely girlfriend, Claire. I can't get enough of my family so anytime they come over I want to keep them there forever.

Saturday was spent watching movies and vegging out on the couch which is nothing new for us. We needed to catch up on our rest as much as we could because of the previous weekend.

Sunday was about the same as Saturday except we watched the Oscars Academy Awards. I personally thought it was lame and boring. Anne Hathaway was my worst dressed, can we say nipples? I don't think I had a best dressed, I wasn't impressed. Maybe Brandi Glanville, I don't know.

Weekend Review 1/28/2013

I spent the weekend relaxing just like I said I would. It was awesome. On Friday night my brother and his fiance came over to watch the Mavericks vs. Spurs game. Our beloved Mavs are, dare I say it, not having the greatest season and inevitably lost. Saturday morning came quickly and we decided upon a movie day. The first flick we watched was Taken 2, it was too so similar to the first and there wasn't really an element of surprise but still a good movie. Next, we watched The Possession which was creepy and I recommend it, then we watched Unknown, I had never heard of Unknown, but glad I found it because it was very suspenseful and kept me intrigued. On Saturday night we concluded our movie day by watching The Day after Tomorrow and what a movie to end the night with! I had never seen The Day after Tomorrow and didn't know what it was about but I loved it! On Sunday I got to visit the awesome Anna and her hip parents! It was the perfect way to wrap up my weekend. Last night was spent flipping between the SAG awards and The Real Housewives of Atlanta until 8 and then it was all about GIRLS and last nights episode was the best so far this season. "Right now, it's a Wednesday night baby and I'm alive!" I couldn't stop quoting Hannah and smacking my chest at the same time, Blake was not amused.

Here's Birdie all cozy on movie marathon day.

Sunday morning breakfast. Thanks to planning my meals I am down six pounds.

I won a Dirty, Messy, Hair giveaway and here's my loot!

The Facts of Catherine

The Facts of Me

Welcome to my little corner of the blog world. If you've never been here allow me to introduce myself and a few facts about me.

Fact: I am a vegetarian and have been for about 21 years.
Fact: I am from a family of seven children, and I am the third oldest. (no, I'm not Catholic or Mormon)
Fact: I do not like picking out the first of anything from the grocery, I will grab the item behind it, never the first.
Fact: My husband was actually my elementary/middle/high school crush.
Fact: I get anxious if I am awake on a work night, I call them school nights because I am a teacher, passed double digits; ie ten o'clock is late!
Fact: Scary movies are my favorite, I don't like romantic comedies or girly movies.
Fact: I believe that the color turquoise is magical. It was also my grandmother's favorite color.
Fact: My hair is crazy curly and I've always hated it, but now that it's really long I don't mind wearing it natural.
Fact: I wear a gazillion bracelets on my left arm and never take them off.
Fact: I have three frups. I call dogs frups. One is a maltese named Bella Bell, the second one is a morkie named Birdie Bell, and the third is a lab named Daisy Mae.

Christmas 2012

Being able to FaceTime with my niece, Riley is one of my most favorite things about 2012. The way that she lights up when she sees me could melt even the iciest of hearts. Even though it's doubtful that she will remember our chats which consist mainly of me just making funny faces and speaking in a language only recognizable by Riley I still treasure these moments. I spent most of this week entertaining both of my nieces so my heart is content. I was sick the week before, I mean laryngitis, bronchitis, diagnosed with walking pneumonia sick, and was worried I wouldn't get the quality time I desperately wanted with little Anna and precious Riley; but God is so good all of the time and helped heal me right on Christmas Eve, just in time for church. Wonderful how He works that way.
We did send out a Christmas card, it didn't include any of the above photos, so the best way to share these is on this blog and my instagram of course! (follow me @hohodryden)
My beautiful sisters, both older and one younger.

One last FaceTime capture with Riley, well a picture of Riley, but I did talk to her, Claire was just showing me her school picture and I thought it was adorable.

My wish tonight is that you had a magical Christmas and are preparing for a blessed New Year.

His Timing: 7/16/2012

I don't know where to begin with this post. I have been going through a trial, one that God is testing me with. I feel like I am growing stronger in my faith and realizing what I want more and more. Without going into too much detail I am surprised by Him and the direction he has taken my life. I am sure many of you can say that you didn't imagine yourself as you are you at whatever age or place you are in your life. For me this has been the struggle. I never thought I would be my age and almost angry at God. How selfish of me!? It's not up to me, I'm on His time, He has a plan for my life and I must trust His path for me. Each morning I repeat this scripture to myself as I thank God for another day and plea with him for what my heart desires.
Jeremiah 29:11

I can't believe it's taken my ALL summer to write a post. It's a testament to how unfocused I have been and slacking off on things that make me happy. I hope to continue to write out my feelings and thoughts through my  blog as  well as my journal. For me it's therapeutic and cleansing. A lot of time has spent reading 50 Shades of Grey, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Bible. I recommend all three to you! I've also spent time being a new mommy to our latest addition: Birdie Bell, she is a teacup morkie (Maltese mommy + Yorkie daddy = morkie)

My new goal is to count my blessings and be grateful for the wonderful things I do have in my life and not to waste my energy on the things I don't have. I trust in Him and know that my ultimate dream of being called Mom will happen. If you are struggling with something I hope God wraps his love around you and comforts you. Remember that hardships are trials from God to make us stronger.
