passion for spring fashion

today it really feels like spring here in texas. this past weekend i went shopping and filled my closet with lots of maxi dresses with various patterns, stripes, white crochet dresses and tops, and of course some new fringe sandals. one staple that i have been wearing and will continue to rock are my blazers. i adore them, i throw them on with tee shirts, tanks, dresses, everything. i am currently loving my baby blue one with a satin lining of white birds, i roll the sleeves up to expose my favorite creatures.

i did gather a lot of inspiration from the coachella show, i adore the boho look as you all know. another favorite color of mine is turquoise! i wear so much turquoise from my hair feathers to my toenail polish! it's my power color i think.

love these sandals

talk about a south pacific kind of outfit! i love the new dior sunglasses and the coral and white that mandy moore rocked at a recent event. if this doesn't get you in the mood for spring i don't know what will.

what is your power color?

amor fati

everyday i find myself reaching for some sort of inner peace. my patience is running thin as the summer grows closer. Friedrich Nietzsche is one of my favorite philosophers and writers.

to help ease the anxiety and general uneasiness i have been feeling i quietly tell myself to love my fate, even if it's undetermined because yes, it IS my life.

i still have glitter moments with my students and lately we have been listening to a lot of  hakuna matata from the lion king. my afternoon trail walks with my pregnant friend rebecca also help calm me down and she is also a teacher and can relate to my day to day stresses.

it's a girl second edition

i am over the moon to announce that my oldest sister, elizabeth, and her husband jay are expecting a girl! this means i get to have two nieces. lucky me! blake & i are thrilled to become an aunt & uncle.

the happy couple has not yet decided on a name, i vote catherine, but hey, i am just an aunt...
this little miss will arrive in september, like her mama.

i am the most excited to photograph the little nuggets and explore the wilderness with them. i imagine putting dandelions in their hair and of course allowing them to always seek comfort and trust in me.

what are ya drinking?

recently blake & i decided we did not want to drink alcohol. there is no reason behind it other than we both believe a person is 110% when they do not have toxins in their bodies. for us, alcohol can become a poison. we didn't realize how taboo it was to NOT DRINK.

a few weekends ago we celebrated my sister's wedding with a reception at our country club. i am from a family of seven children, four girls, three boys. two of those girls, my married older sisters, are pregnant. well, i ordered a coke, very content with my choice and happy to be celebrating my sisters marriage. i cannot tell you how many people approached me, friends, and family asking what i was drinking. first response was 'oh my god you are pregnant too!', total elation, i explained 'no, just not having alcohol' which was followed by a 'oh, you are sick' response. NO people, i am just not drinking. after leaving the event blake & i talked about how our society is so fixated on alcohol=good time and you are almost shunned if you do not participate. its crazy!

i feel very happy with my choice and if the day ever comes that i yearn to have a class of wine or a cocktail, i will. at this moment in time i do not care to have that.

why does there have to be a reason?

got milk?

yes you do

want milk?
first let me say i am a total vegetarian. i do not like milk nor do i desire it. today at school we had a guest speaker, a cow named june, and a dairy farmer. i went with my kindergarten class to go see how milk was made. very very very interesting to hear this 'expert' talk about how we, as humans need milk to grow, have strong bones, and that milk is so good for us. he then explains to us that cows have FOUR stomachs that process their own milk, we as humans only have one. i bit my tongue because i wanted to raise my hand and say, "so cows even have a hard time processing their own milk; and we are supposed to drink their milk even though we have ONE stomach?" i didn't. i listened, respected, and moarned over the poor cow june.

i do not believe that we need milk or any other dairy product. i could blog about this for hours but wanted to share my morning with you. we were shown pictures of what a day-in-the life of a cow was like and guess what; not one of my students said "i want to be a cow". my conclusion is this, the school paid a dairy farmer to come tell us how important milk is and to push dairy onto these young minds.

you don't see women selling their breast milk to farmers over the world do you? nope, it's meant for humans only.

boerne market days

what a wonderful weekend my husband and i had. every second saturday & sunday in boerne is called market days. it's a chance for many different stores, boutiques, food carts, and artists to come to our town, set up booths and display their items.

blake & i have always enjoyed this certain collector & designer. today we found these two incredible items and fell in love. blake is so wonderful about my unique and vintage taste. he appreciates my passion for birds, turquoise, and cottage like things.

this weekend was wonderful, i cannot wait to start the week and continue on this beautiful journey with my sweet husband, blake. i am so proud of him & love him so.
