The List: 8/28/2012

Yesterday was the first day of school, hip-hip-hooray! Only 177 more instructional days to go. On Sunday night I had my CrossFit meeting. To say it was intense is an understatement. I focused on the words 'throw-up' pretty much the entire time. When asked at the end if anyone had any questions I had to resist raising my untoned arm to ask where exactly do you throw-up? Seriously, I need to know because I will be doing that (throwing-up) a lot. I have seen videos of gyms that do not have A/C but never experienced what one truly feels like and I didn't even work out but once I got home Blake said "Wow, they made ya'll workout tonight?!", my response, "No, they don't believe in A/C and it was hot as hell". Am I more excited for CrossFit? No. All I can think about is throwing-up and push ups. Tonight we have our first class that will teach us the movements and CrossFit techniques. Holy roman canolli pray for me. I will not give up, I haven't even started yet. I must remain positive.

I do belive that having the first week of school and CrossFit begin at the same time has coherently thrown my body for a loop. I was so exhausted yesterday that I couldn't sleep and all I prayed for and thought about was falling asleep. I flipping slept all summer, why am I so tired?

Ok, here are my list items for this week:

a week's review: 8/1/2011-8/7/2011

this week i felt overwhelmed. my plate felt full and i was unable to dig deep within myself to find a solution to the situation. with the help of fellow blogger eclectically e i found motivation to unpack on box per day. below are the empty boxes ready for recycling pick-up!

i saw this diy cheap project and had to try it. the beads are actually a much prettier blue, and i found everything at the dollar tree.

i posted about my classroom needs and financial woes. blake printed out a zillion coupons for me and brought them home to me with these supplies. my heart is full and humbled by the outpouring of help that others have offered.

bella went to her check-up and we found out that she does not need anymore surgeries and she is on the road to recovery.

headboard is almost complete, this picture does not show the birds i added to the ends of the garland.

today will be spent going through boxes, painting, and preparing for the up and coming week.

happy happy birthday to my sweet mother-in-law, kathy.

i hope everyone gives thanks to Him and has a relaxing day.

for those who have already helped out so much and for everyone praying for us:

classroom supplies

let me start off this post by saying that this has been a tough summer full of spending. we bought a house, had an expensive accident with our precious bella bell, and had a few occurances that are personal and costly.

i remember telling my students last year that there in fact was NOT a teacher fairy who 'came to the classroom to drop off head-sets, mouse pads, grading pens, paper, computer discs, or any of the other items found in my classroom'. i can still see their sweet faces saying/thinking 'what?! where does this stuff come from?' i told them that they came from me, fundraisers, and the recycling program. soon after many more students brought in electronics to donate to our recycling program. it was sweet. children have the most innocent and kind hearts that i have ever bared witness to.

our pto is amazing and very giving.
sometimes there are little things that the students need and i feel selfish asking pto for the money to purchase them. i am more than happy to spend a few extra bucks on items i know will benefit the students. this year will be different because as many of the nation knows, teachers are not getting paid what some would argue is enough. no raises, no spending money, nada.

the little ones are constantly chewing/playing with/breaking things all of the time. not on purpose of course, but accidents happen.

here are some fun pictures of items on my shopping list thus far:

used everyday and sometimes caps are not put back on

yes it's true, teachers are responsible for cleaning/disenfecting their own classroom

headphones

construction paper is used all of the time, so is poster board, for our 'teachers of the week' projects

best disinfectant spray, plus the students enjoy the smell

you would be shocked, maybe, at the amount of tissues used
these get lost or dry out all the time
as mentioned before, best grading pen
my sixth grade class is responsible for the morning news and yearbook. we only have one digital camera. i am going to have to purchase at least one more, if not two.

i would love to have stability balls instead of chairs. i hope to have a couple at least for the older students.

all of you fabulous teachers out there, what do you need for your classroom?

miscellany monday: 8/1/2011

just another manic monday... linking up with carissa at lowercase letters.

1) rewind to may...
i decided that i would (because i had the time) transform my body back to how it used to look as my summer job.
i did give myself as much of that as i could would.
failed.
now i will be going back to school bigger than i actually was.
how did this happen? answer... i let it.

true life: i gained 8lbs over the summer

2) i cannot believe it's the first of august. inservice begins next week!

 3) we have lived in this house for almost three weeks. i have nothing better to do than to unpack everything.
the kitchen, dining room, and entry way are filled with boxes.
i keep saying i will 'do it tomorrow'.
i need to get it together, grrrrr.

4) if i were a celebrity i would be the most boring one  in the world.
here's an honest run down of my day (typical)
6:00-8:00 a.m.: wake-up, drink coffee, kiss husband goodbye
8:00-6:00 p.m.: lay in bed and watch mindless t.v./ read blogs/ think about working out
6:00 -8:00 p.m.: talk to hubby about his day. watch celebrity gossip shows
then bed.
productive day, catherine!

someone motivate me, please.
but really, how do you force pull yourself out of a funk?
