All About Anna

Sami's Shenanigans

This weekend we celebrated Miss. Anna on behalf of her second birthday. I spent the day playing outside in her bouncy house with her, swimming in her mini pool, and then there was the running around. It's moments like that that I cherish. She is so bright, and loving. Even at an early age she has an appreciation for cupcakes, that's my girl!

After two cupcakes it was time for an actual cake.

It Happened Again

I have been debating on whether or not I wanted to blog about this. I've decided that it's something I need to share.
This summer we found out that we were expecting, again. I can't describe the mixed emotions that came with seeing that positive pregnancy test. Fear, excitement, caution, and shock but mostly joy. Those of you who have followed our journey know that the past three years have been quite a struggle. Obviously the joy outweighed the fear, but we were quick to be cautious. Blake and I didn't share the news with anyone for fear that somehow we would jinx it. Appointment after appointment we were in awe and full of grace at the miracle God had given us. Each week that passed we were so thrilled to see our little one growing and getting bigger. Then, three weeks ago at one of our regular weekly appointments we discovered that our little one had stopped growing. We were told I would need to have surgery to remove the baby (D&C). My heart sank and the dreams I had for the pregnancy slowly faded away. After my surgery our doctor sent some of the tissue off to be tested, and we will find out soon the cause of our miscarriage. Blake and I will also have the option of finding out the gender, I have mixed emotions about this. We haven't yet named the baby like we did with Asher, I don't know if I want to this time around.
I had my surgery two weeks ago, and continue to heal both physically and emotionally each day. It isn't easy but with God's grace and mercy I am getting by. We are humbled by the prayers, texts providing comfort, and for all of the love shown to us. This isn't the end of our journey, it's simply just another bump in the road, and with each bump we grow stronger as a couple and our faith in Him gets deeper.

Labor Day Weekend 2013

Sami's Shenanigans

Having a three day weekend made it rough to get out of bed this morning. I miss my summer vacation, and I want it back! My sister, Claire and her husband Cameron came into town with one of my favorite people, my 2 year old niece, Riley. We spent quality time together at the pool, and then celebrating my Dad's birthday. Both of my nieces were together and I was able to capture some cute pictures. It is such a blessing to have all of my family live so close and I think it's very cool that my brothers and sisters also just happen to be my best friends. I wouldn't have it any other way.
I am now hoping this four day work week goes by quickly because I can't get enough of my weekends! No big plans other than relaxing and maybe going to the river.

OH, meet my first nephew, Nathan. He's Anna's little brother!

Riley is the blonde, and Anna is in pigtail braids!

Sweetest picture ever!

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

1. College football begins tomorrow with A&M playing Rice. Blake is the most excited for this event, while I have come a long way.

2. I survived my first week back at school, 182 more days to go until sweet summertime.

3. My sister, niece, and brother in law are coming to visit tomorrow which means the whole family will be getting together to celebrate! Yay, I love family time!

4. Labor day means a three day weekend, and nothing could be sweeter.

5. After several months off, I am back to blogging, hopefully. I've been in a funk about sharing my life with the blog world lately. I want to get back into it, and possibly just keep some stuff private, we'll see.

HSG: Check!

Well, I survived my HSG! At 1:45 on Friday afternoon I popped both of the pills prescribed and while Blake drove me to the hospital I kept wondering when the pills were going to take over my body, which sadly never happened. Upon arrival the receptionist even told me she would say a prayer for me, once she saw my orders, and that just made me feel doomed. I was quickly taken back after that and I got to change in to some pretty spiffy socks ( I was bummed because I wore my lucky socks) and then Blake was taken into "the room" with me. The nurse then explained the procedure and told us Blake could not be in the room with me, and after he left the doctor came in. He was a very friendly, assuring man. Once the procedure got started there were some minor cramps and my tilted uterus made it difficult to reach my cervix. It felt like I was on the table for twenty minutes before asking if the dye was in to which he replied, "nope, still trying to get to your cervix". When he found my cervix and inflated that balloon I began screaming, because oh my lanta it hurt so badly. I don't think I can describe the pain but if I had to I would say it felt like they were extracting my uterus. I then had to rock side to side to let the dye spill out after that (which was probably six or seven minutes) it was over. Major cramping after the balloon was deflated, and the catheter was taken out. Over all it was highly painful and not something I ever hope to do again. The good news is, my tubes are all clear and open! I've read, and heard that after doing this test you are more fertile for close to three months, so hears to hoping that's rings true for us.
